New Definition of EPIC

Ok so the first look at the remake of Clash of the Titans has been released, and while yes I know it does seem to be relying a lot on CGI I’m hoping thats just because its a teaser and it will look a bit more polished when the actual film comes out. However even with the CGI I just got totally pumped up watching this. I think Sam Worthington is becoming one of the biggest up and coming action stars as he stole the show from Christian Bale in the latest entry to the Terminator franchise and has AVATAR due out this December. Any way this movie looks like its going to pretty awesome and just wanted to put it out there. I appreciate any comments you might have.

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Trailer has Arrived!

Could this finally be the game to film adaptation we have all been waiting for? The Resident Evil series has been an ok film franchise but nothing to run home about. We get the first look at the Prince of Persia trailer the popular game that is now being brought to the silver screen. From my point of view it looks pretty awesome. Jake Gyllenhaal looks perfect for the role as it looks like hes gained quite a few pounds here to bulk up. Watch the trailer for your self and let me know what you think. Thanks

Thors Father Odin, has been cast!

thor-anthony-hopkins-as-odinAnother casting has been made in the upcoming Thor movie, which is looking more and more like star power will be evident. Anthony Hopkins has signed on to play Thor and Loki’s father, Odin in the Kenneth Branagh adaptation. This just shows me that Marvel is being serious about this movie and I’m really excited for the possibilities it has. The real test in my opinion will be when it comes to making The Avengers movie, because your going to have to mesh all these worlds together. I believe marvel is on the right track with casting so far and Im getting more and more excited for May 20th 2011 even though thats more than a year away.

Thor also will star Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Thor’s brother and son to Odin. Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Natalie Portman also will star as the love interest.

Thor is set to release May 20th 2011.

And I’m Finally Excited About Avatar!

Ok so with all the buzz the movie Avatar had before we even saw our first glimpse of the movie, I was actually excited to see why there was so much buzz. Then the first teaser trailer came out, and while it wasn’t by any means bad, I just felt it didn’t live up to the hype that had built around it. Now the full trailer has come out and I can officially say I’m pumped to see the movie. The new trailer shows an actual plot to the movie as well as some bad ass footage. I dont want to give anything away and have you watch it your self below. Please feel free to comment, I would like to hear how you are feeling about the move and where its headed.

First Pictures of Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 are OUT

6a00d8341bf6c153ef01157115dbb0970c-800wiEntertainment Weekly’s Comic Con Preview editions cover has hit the web. On the cover it is previewing one of Summer 2010s biggest movies, Iron Man 2. As you know the first film made Robert Downey Jr. a star  again and has gained such roles as Sherlock Holmes and a nice dramatic role in the Soloist. But for now thats not what anyone really cares about. When I first heard that Scarlett Johansson was going to play the sexy Black Widow I was very intrigued. I’ve always been a pretty big fan of Johansson just because I respect the types of movies that she has chosen for the most parts. Almost all have been “guy friendly” which I totally respect. Any way on the cover of the Comic Con preview you get to see your first look at Scarlett as the Widow. There is also one other picture that I have posted. Let me know what you guys think of her look.
Damn I cant wait till May 7, 2010.

The Daybreakers Trailer

PHPHdRUTFZfPUS_mSo I know lately Hollywood has been trying to cash in on the new vampire phenomenon and it has almost become a stupid way to make a quick buck. That being said I just saw a new trailer for a movie called The Daybreakers which of course is about vampires, but I think that this idea is a very original concept for a vampire movie that hasn’t ever been done before to my knowledge. From what I get from the trailer, the movie is set in a world where vampires are not the minority and humans are. So what happens when all the human blood runs out? Its a very intriguing story line to me and I’m looking forward to hearing more about it. The Daybreakers star Sam Neil, Ethan Hawk, and William Dafoe all of which I greatly respect their works and are fans of at least one of their movies.

Now the movie doesn’t hit theaters till January 2010 but here is the trailer, let me know what you guys think

Alice in Wonderland pictures surface on the web

Today some new pictures for Tim Burton’s interpretation of Alice in Wonderland have surfaced, and I must say I’m very intrigued.  I think the approach that Burton has taken with this film is amazing with the casting and visual style as seen in the pictures. I can not wait for March of 2010 to see how the film unfolds because I have to say I wasnt the biggest fan of his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory world, but hopefully this will please me a bit better.

Alice in Wonderland like  I stated earlier will be directed by Tim Burton and stars, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. Its release date as of now is March 5, 2010

Please leave comments of your opinion on what you see in the pictures.

Are you ready for Shutter Island?

shutterislandcast2The trailer for Martin Scorsese’s new thriller set to come out this Fall has been released, and let me say I’m extremely excited about this movie. I have been waiting for a scary movie that is actually scary and good much like Silence of the Lambs was back in the 1990’s.

I believe that this movie has a shot to do so with it having an excellent director attached like Scorsese and a Oscar nominated actor to carry it. Leonardo Dicaprio is the lead in the film along with Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley also attached.

Here is the trailer below, let me know what you guys think of it, I know I’m excited.

The Hangover: Movie Review

the-hangover-20090427020414963_640w*Warning Minor Spoilers*

The newest R rated comedy to come out; The Hangover does exactly what it sets out to do.  If you liked movies like Old School, Knocked Up, or Role Models I think you will definitely like The Hangover. The premise of this movie is very simple. 4 guys go out for a bachelor party in Vegas before their buddy’s big day. After a few scenes of introducing the characters which all are very funny but I must say that the character Alan the grooms kind of weird soon to be brother in law played wonderfully by Zach Galifianakis definitely steals the movie with his very comical lines and how he just overall presents the character.  During this time one of my favorite little tid-bits in the movie is where Phil played by Bradley Cooper, and seems to be coming on strong as a leading man in the film industry, is a teacher and scams his kids in bringing field trip money which is actually his Vegas fund. I just thought that was classic and who knows how many teachers actually do it.the-hangover-20090521021917226_640w

So anyway on the night of the party the last time we see all four of the guys together is on the roof of their hotel toasting to “a night we wont forget”.  Trouble is they did forget it.  Along to the next scene where we “wake up” with the cast and you can tell something crazy went down the night before.  With tigers in the bathroom and babies in the closet we are to be assured that this was not your normal bachelor party. There happens to be one huge problem though as the group wakes up, Doug the groom has gone missing.  The question comes to be what the f**k happened last night?the-hangover-20090521021939257_640w

This movie really reminded me of a more grown up version of Dude Where’s My Car? As none of the characters can remember a thing and they have gotten into a huge mess in the process.  So if you enjoyed that sophomoric humor you will enjoy this movie, which has just taken that premise up a notch, and threw it in Vegas.  Other than the 3 friends left searching around and finding clues to where the hell there friend could be there really isn’t much more to the plot.

Like I said before Galifianakis just steals the movie away from Cooper and Ed Helms, who don’t get me wrong are great at playing their parts of the pack leader and whipped boy friend but Glaifianakis will have you laughing the most throughout the movie.  There is a particular scene where he gets shot in the face with a taser gun that I’m sure you have seen in the trailer that just gets funnier every time you see it.  Along with how he interacts with the newfound baby is just priceless.

I have to say though that the very end of the movie while the credits are rolling are probably the funniest part of the movie and really brought the enjoyment of the film up a notch. As the credits roll they take you through screen shots of the night in question from a digital camera and I just lost it when these went up.

So if you’re in the mood to really laugh I would really recommend this movie to any R rated comedy fan. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars.

UP: Movie Review

1952-UpMoviePoster

*Warning Minor Spoiler*

I’m going to go out and be completely honest with you guys and say that I’m usually not a fan of children’s animated films.  There have been a few exceptions of course like the Lion King and WALL-E. Both of these films I had a thoroughly good time watching.

So when Pixar and Disney announced their latest movie UP I wasn’t overly excited. I can assure you now after seeing it though; that it should definitely be a movie you should get excited about. UP is a beautifully told story that I believe everyone should see.  As in the case with WALL-E I don’t think this movie started out the normal way most children’s movies would. WALL-E had the wordless opening act and while this movie didn’t have as much of an off beat opening as that it certainly was almost unexpected.

The movie starts out with the main character that you’ve seen in the previews only when he’s probably around 8-10 years old.  He is fascinated with an explorer who went to South America as he wears an explorer cap and goggles while he imagines that he is an explorer. While doing this he meets a young girl around the same age who loves the same explorer and as you can probably guess they start to like each other. The next I would say 10 minuets of the film is a montage to music of the couple growing up getting married and growing old together until Ellie the woman eventually dies of old age.  This is a really heartbreaking scene of events as you can tell that they both really love each other and that Carl is really not the same after she passes. Well as you can imagine Carl really has nothing left to do while he’s alone in his house.UP Disney Pixar May 29, 2009_2_jpg

The next step for Carl is to try and make his and Ellie’s dreams come true and go to South America like their once favorite explorer did years ago.  Carl comes up with a contraption to make his house carry hundreds of helium balloons to carry him to South America. Little does he know that a little named Russell who is a Boy Scout type is along for the ride. From here on Russell and Carl eventually make it to the mysterious place in South America where an apparent adventure ensues with talking dogs and crazy looking birds.  Not to give too much away the story goes from there and it’s a really fun ride.up-20090512041843813_640w

UP is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time and I know I have said that a lot lately about the movies I have seen, but what can I say all the movies that have come out recently I’ve just really enjoyed.  Although UP has definitely been one of the best movies I have ever seen. The relationship that builds with the main characters of Carl and Ellie even in the short time you see it is really a beautiful thing and don’t be surprised if you shed a tear or two when she passes. Carl’s character really reminded me of the old guy you have to love, much like a Walter Matthau character would have been. I personally loved Carl as he turns out to be like a bad ass at the end of the movie and even some people clapped during his scenes in the movie. There is a great character named Doug who is a dog with a voice recognition collar so you can hear what he’s saying and some of his lines definitely do steal the movie. Russell and Carl also have an interesting relationship in the movie as well that’s a little hard to figure out during the movie but in the end is a really great thing to see.

So in the end I would say that UP has it all: action, drama, romance, and comedy. It definitely just jumped into probably my top 10 all time favorite movies if not top 5.  So if you were on the fence about seeing UP I would highly recommend it as it’s the first movie to receive a 5 star rating from me.
